South Glos Youth Awards

staplehillyouth

Feb Half Term means it's time for the South Glos Youth Awards! This year saw a return to Resound in Downend, an amazing venue and home to Creative Youth Networks youth provision for Emersons Green and surrounding areas.

Previous years have seen each youth centre decorating their tables, but due to the growing success of the event there was only seating room and the venue was packed!

After some yummy food and refreshments, the presentations began with the whole night hosted by two fantastic young people, who made sure everything ran smoothly.

We also heard some of the stories behind young people's awards including a fundraising group at Wickwar YC and a presentation from Make A Wish Foundation.

We were then treated to 5 amazing performances from young people that attend youth music sessions in Staple Hill and Wickwar - absolutely blown away by the talent, especially the punk group and their smashy percussion!

Following all of this, Kevin Sweeny gave a speech on behalf of South Glos Youth Services and lead us into the final part of the evening - the activities and Disco! - our lot not so keen on this, snuck outside with their boards for a cheeky carpark curb session (who let them bring skateboards to an awards evening 🤣)?

We also had some personalised awards for our group, that attempted to resemble concrete quarter pipes... but didn't 😅

Some light hearted categories that included Loudest High Fives, & The Tokyo Drift Award!

We're looking forward to next years event already!!!
